About the SCADU Project
The SCADU Project represents a shared commitment to empowering young people to lead Uganda's agricultural transformation and drive inclusive economic growth.
Our goal is to increase sustainable youth employment in various agricultural value chains by enabling young farmers and agripreneurs to build productive, climate-smart, and resilient agribusiness enterprises.
A core pillar of SCADU is expanding access to financial support through the establishment of youth-led regional MG cooperatives. These cooperatives strengthen savings mobilization, improve access to affordable credit, and promote collective enterprise growth.
Key Focus Areas
- Agriculture skills and climate-smart practices
- Entrepreneurship and business development
- Financial literacy and savings mobilization
- Access to affordable credit and financing
- Market linkages and value chain integration

Training Impact Summary
Youth Access to Finance
Expanding access to financial support through youth-led regional MG cooperatives

In 2024, the project supported the establishment and formal registration of Youth MG Cooperatives by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MTIC). These cooperatives now form a network of 1,312 young members across all regions: 546 in Eastern, 340 in Western, 222 in Central, and 204 in Northern Uganda.
To modernize operations, the cooperatives have adopted digital financial solutions including the MG App, MG Member Portal, and USSD code (*2844#) — enabling faster transactions and greater transparency.
